In the upcoming BDS waiver reset process, MTAC is advocating to ensure that music therapy is recognized as a critical, evidence-based service that supports the functional, emotional, and cognitive development of individuals with disabilities. We are working to protect and expand access to music therapy, ensuring that providers have the resources and funding needed to deliver high-quality care while maintaining sustainable operations. Our focus is on being at the table during funding and policy decisions, providing input that reflects the needs of both clients and providers, and promoting standards that allow music therapy to continue as a vital part of the waiver program. By engaging directly with decision-makers, we aim to secure a waiver structure that prioritizes equitable access, measurable outcomes, and long-term stability for the music therapy profession.
