Hope is an Anchor

"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” Hebrews 6:19

This song was written as a part of Resound Worship's 12 Song Challenge on the theme of hope. Based on the passage from Hebrews, this song has the feel of an old sea shanty. It also evokes other nautical hymns such as "Will Your Anchor Hold in the Storms of Life?" Many thanks to Chris Fischer for supplying the wonderful vocals. This song is free to use for your congregation, but please report use to One License or CCLI.

Hope is an Anchor        Words and music: David Kai  ©2022

Chorus:

Hope is an anchor that steadies the soul,

With Christ as our rock we’ll not drift towards the shoals,

Crossing the waves, bravely set out each day

Knowing hope, strong and firm is our anchor.

When troubles o’ertake us and storms cloud our view,

We struggle and strain at the oars,

But true to the promise, our hope will renew,

With power and strength that are yours.  Chorus:

Abounding in hope and with Christ as our guide,

We’ll go where we’ve ne’er been before,

Our hearts yearn to go, so whatever betide

We’ll pull towards that heavenly shore.  Chorus:
