This fun country-rock song is based on the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15. It might be a part of a musical about the prodigal if I can get around to writing the rest of it! This passage is often one of the Common Lectionary readings for Lent.

CHORUS:
Come on, everybody, let’s dance, let’s sing
Get the fatted calf, bring a robe, grab a ring,
Gonna celebrate
Now the son has come home.
Come on, everybody, it’s time to eat!
Grab a round of drinks, fancy shoes for his feet
‘cause it’s party time
Now the son has come home.
We were all so sad when he went away
What he did with all that cash we can’t really say
But that doesn’t matter now
‘Cause the son has now come back somehow
CHORUS:
Now the father’s love leaves us all impressed
Seems that all those wrongs have been put to rest
We don’t mean to spoil the fun
But look out – here comes the other son!
CHORUS:
