We can help you with your course schedule, choosing classes, finding student aid, studying skills, locating and using sources for an essay--you name it, we have someone who can help. Use that Canvas Inbox we talked about to contact me. If you're having difficulty using Canvas, let me know that, too. Let's get you started on a successful path right away! If Canvas stops working for some reason or you're experiencing technical issues, please see Canvas Assistance below. Be brave and ask questions. There is a good chance that your class mates have the same or similar questions and will be glad that you asked!

"How do I get to my course?" To log in to your Canvas account, go to portal.peralta.edu. Log in using your Peralta email address and password.

Tutoring Services

Tutoring at Laney College is offered in three main strategically-located centers on campus:

  • The James Oliver Community Writing Center, located in B260, is open from Monday through Thursday, 9 AM – 8 PM, and Friday, 9 AM – 3 PM.
  • The Math Lab, located in G201, is open Monday through Thursday, from 10 AM – 7 PM.
  • The Tutoring Resource Center tutors are doing their work directly with instructors in their offices and classrooms. For any questions or requests, please contact the tutor coordinator, Ian Latta (ilatta@peralta.edu).

LIBRARY

So many great online and on-campus resources are provided by the Laney library. For library hours and address, a calendar of events and holidays and much more, just click on the link https://laney.edu/library/ .

FOOD

An empty stomach will distract you and you may not have enough energy to do your best work. We have several food options on campus including:

      • the Cafeteria - sandwiches, salads, hot breakfast and lunch, coffee, tea, cold drinks, grilled items, french fries, pastries and desserts
      • The Laney Bistro - International Cuisine and Contemporary American Bistro Cooking classes serve seasonal foods prepared with a modern flair

I encourage any student with a disability who may need reasonable accommodations to be sure and reach out to me via our Canvas class email.
