Week 1: Introductions and survey. Overview of the class. Audio examples of Electronic Music. The Properties of Sound. Quiz 1.

Week 2: Introduction to the Logic interface. Loop Browser. Basics of signal flow. The Blue (Audio), Green (MIDI) and Gold (Drummer) regions. Lab: First look at Logic Pro. Project #1: 30 seconds of loops project (due week 3 at the end of lab). Instructions in class.

Week 3: History of Electronic Music I. Analog/Digital Audio. Basics of Audio Editing and Automation. Quiz 2 (take by the end of week 3). Lab: Project #1 is due. Listen to loop/sample projects. Importing and Exporting and Bouncing from Logic Pro.

Week 4: History of Electronic Music II. Signal/FX Processing. Automation. Looking at MIDI in Logic Pro. Caps Lock Keyboard. Lab: Midterm project introduction. MIDI in Logic Pro: piano roll, event editor, etcProject #2 adding FX to sound effects. Introduction of the Midterm Project.

Week 5: Caps Lock Keyboard. Plug-ins. Quiz. Lab: Plug in: ES2. Library, Inspector, Tool Bar. Project# 3: Creating a wobble bass track in Logic

Week 6: Midterm music collaboration. Producing a Virtual Drum Track. Lab: Work together with music partner to create midterm music project.

Week 7: Microphones (types and patterns). Mixing, EQ and Effects. Logic Arpeggiator. Recording voice or sounds into Logic Pro. Quiz 4 Lab: Creating tracks with arpeggiator. Work on collaboration.

Week 8: Midterm Exam. Midterm Project is Due.

Week 9: MIDI. Synthesis and Sound. Looking at MIDI in Logic Pro. Editing Pitch and Time. Introduction to the Final Project. Working with video in Logic Pro. Lab: Working with Flex in Logic Pro.

Week 10: Automating the Mix. Mixing "in the box". Rhythm and drum tracks in real time and step time. Producing a Virtual Drum Track. Lab: Creating Beats in Real Time and Step Time. Logic drum kits. Downloading a video for the final project. Working with video in Logic.

Week 11: File formats. Stereo File vs. surround and other formats. Flex in Logic Pro. Time/beat mapping in Logic Pro. Introduction of final paper. Quiz. Lab: Work on Final Project with individual help. Research time for final paper.

Week 12: Final project intro. Working with Video in Logic Pro. Lab: Work on Final Project with individual help. Research time for final paper.

Week 13: Basic Mastering in Logic Pro. Lab: Continue work on final project. Research time for final paper. Quiz.

Week 14: Final Exam review. Final Project check-in. Lab: Work on Final Project.

Week 15: Final Project - check in. Final Exam is due by the end of this week.

Week 16: Final Exam reviewed. Quiz 8. Lab: Final Project is due. Listen to Final Projects.
