To safeguard the wellbeing of the native animals that live in and around Murrays Beach there are requirements in the Community Management Statement and Nth Wallarah Peninsular Area Plan for pets.

A summary of some of the requirements are as follows:
BY - LAW 44 RESTRICTIONS ON PETS
44.1 The following By-Law on the restriction of pets is necessary to preserve the theme and essence of the Development.
44.2 Subject to By-law 44.4 any owner's or occupier's domestic pets must be confined to that respective Lot within an appropriately fenced off area and at all times to prevent straying onto Community Property
44.3 The keeping of cats within the development is prohibited.
44.4 The keeping of dogs by owners or occupiers is permitted on the following conditions:
(a) the maximum number of dogs permitted per Lot is two (2);
 (b) they are restrained within the Development Envelope of the Lot between sunset and sunrise each day;
(c) they are accompanied by a responsible person and are leashed and otherwise suitably restrained whilst they are outside the Lot;
(d) they have compulsory microchip identification from 12 weeks of age;
(e) they are registered on the state wide register;
(f) the Community Association may remove any dog that is offensive, vicious, noisy or a nuisance or is a dangerous dog under the Dogs Act (NSW) 1966.
(g) Owners must take all necessary action to clean all areas of their Lot or Community Property that are soiled by their dog.
44.5 For clarity, no cats may be brought into the Community Scheme at any time.
44.6 Owners of any Lots identified in any section 88B instruments attached to the deposited plan of each respective Lot are not entitled to keep dogs or allow any dogs to be brought onto Community Property or onto a Lot.
NOTE: Nth Wallarah Peninsular Area Plan Part 2.6 Item 23. Dogs are prohibited in Development Types 1 and 2. (Lot Area greater than 1250 m2 and generally near the Habitat Corridor). Dogs are permitted in Development Types 3 and 4. (Lot Area less than 1250 m2)
44.7 Dogs are prohibited from being walked, whether restrained or not, within the ecologically sensitive areas such as Riparian Zones and the Habitat Corridor
