The Fourth Annual Peer Tutoring Day took place Fri. Feb. 28, 2025, in the Ball State Student Center Ballroom. This workshop brought together six Writing Centers from the Muncie-area: Muncie Central High School, Northside Middle School, Southside Middle School, Delta High School, Inspire Academy, and Ball State University. More than 60 tutors attended this day of community and engagement. The theme of this year’s Peer Tutoring Day was “the art of tutoring.” The grant’s support allowed us to purchase markers and blank hard cover sketch books for the tutors. As the day went on, tutors not only wrote and drew in these books, but started to sign each other’s books. Some students made it their mission to get a signature from all the tutor present. Peer Tutoring Day provided tutors an opportunity to engage with other schools’ peer tutors; practice tutoring skills through observations and mock sessions; and ask a panel of Ball State Writing Center tutors’ questions about being a peer tutor.

The Third Annual Peer Tutoring Day took place Fri. Feb. 9, 2024, in the Ball State Student Center Ballroom. This workshop brought together five Writing Centers from the Muncie-area: Northside Middle School, Southside Middle School, Delta High School, Inspire Academy, and Ball State University. The theme of this year’s Peer Tutoring Day was friendship bracelets and tutors made, shared, and traded bracelets with other tutors throughout the day. We had nearly 60 tutors attend. Peer Tutoring Day provided tutors an opportunity to engage with other schools’ peer tutors; practice tutoring skills through observations and mock sessions; and ask a panel of Ball State Writing Center tutors’ questions about being a peer tutor.
