On a regular basis (Usually at the beginning of Winter) the usual headtorch debate happens ad nauseam. We've added all the main debates here for your convenience! (Hint: So it does not have to be discussed on WhatsApp)
Noah (14/07/2019): LED lenser @ sportsman’s. Worth investing in something decent if running @ night. Muizenberg mountain eats ankles for dinner :)
Madelein (11/10/2018): https://outsider.ie/gear/choosing-headtorch-everything-need-know
Guy (10/10/2018): The extreme Lights ascent.. it's cheap, super powerful, takes AA batteries that last longer, it's light and its local.
Sierd (10/10/2018): Black Diamond Spot
Steve H (10/10/2018): Led Lenser 7 has a rechargeable battery and also takes AAA
Guy (13/8/2018): Takealot are selling the Extreme Lights ascent for 375 zar. It's amazing
Guy (7/6/2018): if anyone is looking for a decent head torch, takealot are selling the Extreme Lights Ascent for 375 zar... I bought one and it is really efficient and comfy. Uses AA batteries too and is still light. Just a heads up
Erald (13/8/2018): I'm using a black diamond which is pretty good too. So long as you dry it out when it gets wet.
Steve H (13/8/2018): I do love my Led Lenser. They're on special at the Fish Hoek Mica
Ian W (13/8/2018) forwarded: Re headlamps: if you just need it for a few hours the rechargeable ones are cool. Make sure you get at least 300 lumens. If you need it for all night missions you will need something that has replaceable batteries or the BD Ion that takes 4x AA batteries. Depending on what you need it for there are a bunch of good options. The USB rechargeable ones are cool for Tuesday night and or early morning winter vibes.
yes indeed. I have the previous model in my lumen quiver. but for most night running i would take this bad boy, uses a single AA battery! - no longer made for some weird reason https://www.alpkit.com/products/muon
and then if you really want to be budget and wait a while, you can get some really good stuff here like this http://www.dx.com/p/ultrafire-3w-3-mode-mini-led-flashlight-headlamp-blue-3-aaa-446708#.WrpCrYhubb0
Better pricing than CUM in Led lensers comes from:

Steven (13/8/2018): I'm chatting to mr extremelights, have raced with him. He is open to a group order of lights, if we can get an order of 10 trailrunning lights then discount is 25%. who is in? https://www.extremelights.co.za/collections/headlamps
Steven (14/8/2018): that's from extreme lights. If I get 10 lights ordered we can get 25% discount. they've got new rechargeables coming into stock soon too. https://www.extremelights.co.za/collections/headlamps If I get enough traction i can start a separate group/spreadsheet for this purchase
Nathalie (14/8/2018): Extreme Lights Basecamp is on Takealot for R395, the Ascent not available on Takealot. You recommended the Ascent right? That’s on the Extreme Lights website for R575
