MUHAMMAD ALIFF BIN AFINDI
Hello! My name is Aliff, a final year Diploma in Arts Management student at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Throughout my studies, I have built a strong foundation in event coordination, project management, and administrative support. These experiences have shaped my interest in structured and organized environments where planning and responsibility are key to success.
I thrive in situations that require clear organization and accountability, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. My adaptability and attention to detail allow me to handle challenges with confidence, while maintaining professionalism in every responsibility. I am capable of working independently with initiative, as well as collaborating within a team to achieve shared goals.
Beyond technical skills, I am passionate about continuous learning and professional growth. I enjoy exploring new approaches to event management and administration, applying creativity and innovation to my work. Another key reason for choosing JKKN Melaka is the opportunity for self development and professional learning. The department offers a dynamic working environment where interns are encouraged to take initiative, contribute ideas, and engage actively in event planning.
This experience enables me to improve essential soft skills such as leadership, communication, time management, and problem solving. It also helps me develop a strong sense of discipline and responsibility when handling tasks in a professional setting.
Overall, undergoing industrial training at JKKN Melaka allows me not only to learn the technical aspects of arts management but also to grow as a more confident, skilled, and culturally aware individual ready to contribute to Malaysia’s creative industry.
JKKN Melaka is known for its close collaboration with multiple government bodies, private organizations, and local community groups. The department frequently works together with agencies such as Tourism Melaka, local councils, schools, and non governmental organizations (NGOs) to ensure that cultural programmes reach a wider audience.
This collaborative approach provides me the opportunity to observe and understand how professional networking and teamwork play a crucial role in ensuring the success of cultural projects. Through these partnerships, I can learn how to communicate effectively, manage stakeholders, and maintain good working relationships between different sectors involved in the arts and culture field.
Such an environment allows me to experience the real world operations of cultural administration and to understand the importance of cooperation between government and community in preserving Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.
One of the main reasons I chose Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara (JKKN) Melaka for my internship placement is because the department is actively involved in organizing a wide range of cultural and artistic events throughout the year. Among the major programmes managed by JKKN Melaka are the Festival Seni Selat Melaka, Festival Sungai Melaka, Sayembara Ratu Kebaya, and other traditional performances and exhibitions.
These programmes provide a valuable platform for me to learn about the planning, coordination, and management of large scale cultural events. By participating directly in these activities, I can apply my classroom knowledge of art management to real life situations and gain practical experience in handling stage setups, scheduling, and performer coordination. This kind of exposure helps me build confidence and develop essential skills that will be beneficial for my future career in the arts industry.
I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the management and staff of JKKN Melaka for granting me the opportunity to complete my internship in such a dynamic and inspiring environment. Special thanks are extended to my supervisor and all colleagues who have provided continuous guidance, advice, and encouragement throughout the internship period. Their support has greatly contributed to my personal and professional growth.
