Glimpse of Skit Performance by Malir University Students was presented as one of the key initiatives by the Malir University Student Union (MUSU) to raise awareness about suicide prevention.

UNFPA Training on Psychosocial Stress Management in Nur Goth, Thatta!

On May 29, 2023, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) recently organized a highly informative and engaging training session on Psychosocial Stress Management in Nur Goth, Thatta. 

The session was led by Ms. Ujala Sajid, a lecturer, and psychophysiologist from the Department of Psychology at Malir University of Science and Technology. This training was specifically designed to empower the women of the community.

During the awareness session on psychosocial support and well-being for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) at WGFS AL-FARABI in Keti-Bandar, District Thatta, Miss Yusra Saleem, a psychophysiologist from the Department of Psychology at Malir University of Science & Technology, led the session. 

The collaborative effort between Malir University of Science and Technology and Habib University has resulted in an informative and impactful documentary on menstrual hygiene management (MHM). This documentary sheds light on the challenges faced by girls and women in managing their menstrual hygiene, particularly in low-income communities. Ms. Syeda Farah Batool, Lecturer at MU and Ms. Ajab Shabir graduate from Habib University has taken this initiative and has also nominated for the SDG Action Awards by UN for the year of 2023. Malir University encourages such initiatives and collaborations to achieve its goals. 

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) organized a training session on psychosocial stress management at Al-Farabi Hospital in Keti Bander-Thatta. The training was specifically designed for women from the Sindhi community residing in the region and was conducted by Ms. Ujala Sajid, Lecturer, Department of Psychology, Malir University of Science and Technology, and a psychophysiologist at Koohi Goth Women's Hospital. The training was conducted as a part of the Gender-Based Violence Project, a UNFPA initiative aimed at preventing and responding to gender-based violence in Pakistan.

An article was written by the Dean of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Syeda Sadaf Akber regarding Malaria. As World Malaria Day is an international observance commemorated every year on 25 April and recognizes global efforts to control malaria. Globally, 3.3 billion people in 106 countries are at risk of malaria. In 2012, malaria caused an estimated 627,000 deaths, mostly among African children. 

Dr. Syeda Sadaf Akber, Dean Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Malir University of Science and Technology was invited to discuss dengue and malaria diseases and their management in the program of "Sehat aur Ramazan" on TVOne News Channel.

Dr. Sadaf Akber was invited to discuss Ramzan and our health in Awaz TV to disseminate the awareness about healthy eating in the month of Ramzan. 

The free medical camp was set up by the Malir University of Science and Technology for the flood victims at Moro to provide basic medical facilities, screening, and medicines at this critical time. 

Malir University of Science and Technology believes in the development of quality and compassionate human resources. In this backdrop, the university has initiated various programs for the welfare of the community and society at large.
This program will be helpful to inculcate values like responsibility, empathy, leadership qualities, a sense of ownership, and respect for fellow human beings. The program will further bridge the gaps between academic institutions and communities. The long - lasting impact of the program will be the production of socially responsible global citizens. The social service initiatives will also help enhance the outlook of the students. Under this program, students at the bachelor's level will provide services to various underprivileged segments of society.
The salient features of this initiative are to shape humanity, and create equity and patriotism among the students. This engagement will be part of the degree program for the bachelor's; the students will be engaged with social service providers on a monthly basis. As our country is prone to disasters where, unfortunately, it has faced both man-made and natural disturbances. This initiative will be providing a coping mechanism in case of emergency or in humanitarian response.
