On World Teachers' Day, Malir University of Science & Technology organized a successful virtual session by Ms. Paula Ramzi, themed on teacher well-being and self-care, strengthening resilience, and building sustainability.

Ms. Ramzi provided valuable insights and strategies for our educators take care of themselves, strengthen their resilience, and maintain a sustainable work-life balance. This session was extremely relevant and timely, especially in the current challenging times.

Dr. Shamoon Noushad, Director of QEC and Associate Professor of Psychology Department, Malir University of Science and Technology, delivered an invited talk at the Paklive International Cardiology 2023, held in Lahore. 


Faculty members of the Department of Psychology and the Department of Public Health have been selected to present their research at an International Brain and Biomedicines Conference to be held at GCU-Faisalabad. These 4 faculty members will be presenting 7 research projects in the form of oral and poster forms.

Online Session Staff Wellbeing-Session-3 on “Building Resilience against Traumatic Events and Increasing Tolerance and Acceptance for It” and faculty members have attended this webinar, which was organized by UNFPA for Staff wellbeing. The webinar was hosted by Paula Ramiz, a member of UNFPA. The purpose of this report is to summarize the key takeaways from the webinar and reflect on how the information shared can be applied in daily life. 

PARENT/CARER EVENT - Conflict Resolution Series - Feeling Connected – Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution (SCCR) runs a series of free open training sessions, seminars, and conferences. These events focus on Conflict Resolution as a means of early intervention which improves relationships and lives and ultimately reduces youth homelessness. 

ONLINE SESSION BY UNFPA ON STAFF WELLBEING

A 4-week online training session on staff wellbeing is being organized by UNFPA, starting on April 5, 2023, for the whole month of April. Ms. Ujala Sajid and Ms. Syeda Farah Batool, lecturers in the Department of Psychology, at the Malir University of Science and Technology, attended these sessions.

These sessions are facilitated by Ms. Paula Ramiz, a member-UNFPA.

Training of UNFPA implementing partners on handling disclosure of gender-based violence cases in emergencies

10th – 11th April 2023

A two - day training on handling disclosure of gender-based violence cases in emergencies was organized by UNFPA at Pearl Continental (10–11 April 2023). Miss Yusra Saleem, the lecturer at the Department of Psychology, Malir University of Science & Technology, attended the training. These extensive sessions included focus groups discussion on domestic violence, sexual violence, and the effect of violence on children. The training facilitator Dr. Asha Bidare (Clinical Psychologist), elaborated on the theoretical part of the disclosure cycle on Day 1; she focused on the immediate response and psychological first aid for GBV survivors. The key skills for communication between the GBV worker and the survivor were discussed, including verbal and non-verbal communication and block of listening. The session also included exercises or hands-on activities for the participants focusing on the survivor-centered practice; it allowed them to test their listening skills and patience during the process.
