Becoming a Tutor

Being a Mount Douglas Peer Tutor is not difficult, and can be enjoyable when connecting with or helping peers. Plus, the schedule is very flexible and you rarely need to work more than 1 shift per week.

Why Should You Become a Tutor?

There are plenty of other reasons to join Mount Douglas' Peer Tutoring Program, such as:

1. Giving back to Mount Douglas

Just an hour or two of your time per week can make a crucial impact on a fellow student's school performance.

2. Gain Valuable Skills

Teaching other students develops valuable skills such as leadership, communication, self-expression, public speaking, and more. It helps your own learning as well: "to teach is to learn twice."

3. Helpful in the Future

Peer Tutoring looks great when finding for a job or applying to university. When the time comes, having something like Peer Tutoring on your resume is a huge benefit.

If you think you have what it takes: Select the course for the 2023-2024 school year. Since it is a small program, there is also a short interview. Contact Mr. Dickson at cjdickson@sd61.bc.ca for more information.
