We are the first to leave for this exciting trip. My car is loaded. We have three scientific posters, two large stand up banners, brochures, EL-PFDD cards, tables, chairs and more. I'm taking a rest break before I head out to pick Lynn up at the airport. Then, we will be heading north on I65 toward GCOM! Stay tuned for some pics and updates throughout the day. In the meantime, get the conversation started. Head back to the main GCOM page and share your thoughts and questions. --- Benita
Lynn arrived in Huntsville 20 minutes early. After, cramming her luggage into my car, we are headed north on I 65. As you can see, we take packing seriously. We even have a table and chairs in there! :) --Benita
We HAD to make a stop at Bucc ee's before we left Alabama. If you know...you know!
We are loaded up on plenty of snacks and coffee for a while.
Construction, Traffic, and Flats...Oh My!
Less than two hours into the drive, we ran into construction. We were just entering Franklin, TN. Suddenly, a low pressure light came on. Within minutes we lost 10 pounds of pressure. We barely made it off the next exit. I grabbed a can of Fix-a-Flat at the gas station and a nice gentleman helped us finish airing up the tire. It was still losing air, but thankfully, a Firestone Tire center a mile down the road. Sooo...we gave them the car and walked around the corning with our laptops to a the Nashville Pizza Company. Thank goodness it happened at just the right time. Any later and we would not have been anywhere close to a place to get it fixed! We pushed on the rest of the day, ate leftover pizza in the car. And now we are settled in a hotel just past Cincinnati, OH for the night. We have another four to five hours to go in the morning before arriving at the hotel to set up the MSU booth. -- Benita and Lynn
Hawaiian pizza while they repair the tire. They had the tired fixed by the time we finished lunch. That's what I call excellent service!
We enjoyed taking a break at a Cracker Barrel and looking at all the beautiful spring trees. We couldn't have asked for a prettier day to travel.
Time for these DM bodies to get some much needed rest. See you all again tomorrow.
