My student teaching placement for Spring 2019 is at Reading High School in Reading, PA. I teach 11th grade American Literature, covering The Great Gatsby and other early American poetry and short stories.
My early field experiences took place at South Mountain Middle School in Allentown, PA, and Muhlenberg High School in Laureldale, PA. During these placements, I spent time with my cooperating teachers learning to plan, implement, and assess lessons and activities; and built rapport with students and school professionals.
During my senior year of undergrad, I am working as an assistant supervising teacher at the Tri-Valley YMCA's Leap & Learn Childcare Center in Fleetwood, PA. In this position, I was responsible for the care and early education of children aged 6 weeks-5 years.
During my sophomore and junior years of college, I worked as a Community Assistant in first-year residence halls. My primary purpose was to be a resource for these students and to enforce university policies. I am experienced in mentoring students in academics and personal issues, community-building and fostering a comfortable living & learning environment, creating educational bulletin boards, establishing positive relationships with students, and resolving conflicts effectively.
