Get ready for miles and miles, and millions of years of Texas this year.
Get ready for miles and miles, and millions of years of Texas this year.
This year we will study Texas History literally from the ground up and across the ages.
In Unit 1, the first nine weeks, we begin with the land, the first native peoples, and the first arrival of the Spanish, looking to conquer both.
In Unit 2, the 2nd nine weeks, we will cover Mexico's independence from Spain and how that leads to the Texas revolution and the creation of the Republic of Texas.
In Unit 3, the third nine weeks, we will trace the transition to U.S. statehood as the country drifts to Civil War. We will examine the role that Texas plays in the Civil War and how all its citizens are impacted during and after the war (Reconstruction).
Unit 4 brings us to the last nine weeks of the school year where we dive deep into all angles of the last frontiers of the 19th century and the Texas that rises in the 20th century, through boom and bust, war and peace, all the way up until modern times.
