Grade 3 is an exciting year of learning, growing, and becoming more independent. Our classroom is a welcoming space where students are encouraged to ask questions, try new things, work together, and feel proud of their learning.

Our Classroom Community

We will work together to create a kind, respectful, and inclusive classroom. Students will build friendships, practice responsibility, and learn how to be supportive members of our classroom community.

ELA

In ELA, students will grow as readers, writers, speakers, and listeners. We will explore a variety of books and texts while building reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, spelling, and writing skills.

Mathematics

Math will include lots of hands-on learning, games, problem-solving, and discussion. Students will explore numbers, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, patterns, measurement, geometry, and data while learning different ways to explain their thinking.

Science

Science is all about wondering, exploring, and discovering! Students will take part in hands-on investigations and activities that encourage them to ask questions, make predictions, observe, and learn more about the world around them.

Social Studies

In Social Studies, students will learn about communities, cultures, citizenship, and our connections to the world around us. We will use stories, discussions, and inquiry activities to help students learn about different perspectives and what it means to belong to a community.

Health and Mindfulness

Health and mindfulness will help students build skills for taking care of themselves and others. We will learn about healthy choices, relationships, emotions, personal safety, and simple mindfulness strategies that can help students feel calm, focused, and ready to learn.

Art

Art gives students a chance to be creative, explore new materials, and express their ideas. Throughout the year, students will experiment with different art techniques while developing confidence, imagination, and an appreciation for their own work and the work of others.
