Copyright
Copyright is used to help protect people’s creative property. Creative property includes things such as stories, music, drawings, films, and so on. It keeps others from copying someone’s original idea and claiming it as their own. It is easy to think of it as if you drew a picture you were proud of and then one of your classmates copied your picture and said it was theirs first. It does not feel great to have someone take your idea, and in the adult world, copyright protects those ideas.

Fair Use
Fair use allows little bits of copyrighted material to be used by someone. In our drawing analogy it would be as if that person was allowed to take parts of your drawing and incorporate it in theirs but not the whole thing.
