In this course, students will learn how to create digital artwork using various online programs and platforms, exploring a range of styles, techniques, and tools. Students will complete projects that apply design and artistic concepts while engaging in the creative process to produce original artwork. Lessons will introduce students to different digital art mediums, methods, and approaches, as well as the diverse career opportunities in the field. By the end of the course, students will develop confidence in their ability to use technology to create art and gain a deeper understanding of digital art’s styles, processes, and professional applications.
Course objectives:
Apply basic design skills and concepts to artwork
Understand the Principles of Design and Elements of Art
Learn how to draw and paint digitally using Adobe Fresco and Wacom tablet
Learn how to apply basic animation techniques to illustrations
Create interesting and thoughtful graphic design compositions
Learn about digital illustration as a career pathway
Students will be expected to organize and maintain a website portfolio with all the digital artworks they make during the course of the semester. Students will be expected to present their artwork at the end of the semester. This allows students to reflect on their creative process and artistic journey as an artist.
Students will learn graphic design fundamentals, such as color theory, font styles and how to create a composition using the Principles of Design. Students will learn how to visually communicate ideas to an audience through their work and will create logo and poster designs. Students will use Adobe Firefly Ai and Canva to create layouts, publications, and school posters.

In this unit, students learn how to create digital illustrations using Adobe Fresco. They start off with simple doodles, line exercises, and shapes to help them develop skills using the stylus. Students will get inspiration from different digital illustration artists and styles. The final project for this unit is to create a "Storybook Village" illustration using texture and a specific color palette. Peggy Dean's SkillShare course inspires this lesson.

In this unit, students learn about the history and process of digital animation. Students will learn multiple animation techiniques using Adobe Fresco. The final project will be an underwater animation that applies the techniques leaned.
