Writing: Helping Students Discover the Power of Their Words
Writing is one of the most powerful ways students communicate their ideas, express their creativity, and make a difference in the world. In fifth grade, students learn to write for many different purposes—to inform, persuade, entertain, research, and reflect.
Strong writers don't simply put words on paper. They think critically, organize their ideas, support their thinking with evidence, revise their work, and consider their audience. Throughout the year, students develop the confidence to communicate clearly, creatively, and effectively in every subject.
What Will My Child Learn?
📖 Informative Writing
Students learn to explain ideas clearly by organizing information, using facts and details, and teaching others about topics they have studied. Informational writing helps students communicate knowledge across every subject.

📣 Opinion Writing
