Today we have updates to what we're doing this week in school, a new book that we are reading, and a new phonics unit. There's also updated grades as well.
Speaking of grades, I've made a slight update to the grades section since a few people have asked about what shows up in ProgressBook and what shows up in Google Classroom. Hopefully the changes clear things up a bit.

I've decided to add some subpages to our math section as the year goes on. Today's first subpage is all about skip counting.

This week also has us taking two very important assessments on Tuesday and Thursday. The MAP reading and math tests will be done remotely for the first time. 9/21/20
For today's update we have what we're reading and doing this week in school, along with our first set of grades in ProgressBook.

After a very busy (and sometimes glitchy) introductory week to remote learning, I'm very excited to say we are hitting the ground running today with official second grade instruction! While all of our learning will take place in Google Classroom as it always does, you can check here to see what we're reading and doing this week in school. You can also check out what our first unit in phonics looks like as well.
Today also marks the start of our AM/PM split-class schedule. With it comes a whole new way of learning. Thanks to all of the parents and guardians in this class, we are able to start reading groups today with this schedule. Please be sure to read how reading groups will work with this format.
9/7/20
Welcome to a new school year, and welcome to second grade! This will definitely be an interesting year to say the least, and we will still be learning a lot even if we aren't together in the same room!
There is a ton of information here on this website, so take some time to look around and see what it has to offer.
Major updates will usually come on Mondays. If you're looking for some fun, be sure to check out the scavenger hunt, click some of our links, or write on the wall.
Parents and guardians, there is a slight update to our daily schedule layout. The content hasn't really changed, but I've adjusted the layout of the self-guided portion of our days. Take a look, and let me know if you have any questions.
Finally, please don't forget about the important reading assessment schedule that was sent on ClassDojo last week. We will be doing one-on-one, ten-minute reading sessions all day this coming Friday. If you don't know your time, reach out to me.
9/2/20
Some helpful parent resources have been added today to provide information about many of the websites and apps that we will use this year in class.
8/31/20
Even though in-person learning begins today in Barberton, our remote-learning class still has a week to go. With that in mind, please make sure you are signed up for a Chromebook/supply pickup day and time. Please contact me on ClassDojo if you need a link to the signup schedule.
I'm still making adjustments to this website to prepare for our first day of class, the biggest today perhaps being to our daily schedule. Information about this is in the Welcome to Second Grade Online packet you will receive at your pickup time, but you can also now find a copy of that packet in the parent resources section.
8/14/20
Welcome back! You're early! 🙂
Right now I'm just cleaning up and "resetting" the Online Classroom for the 2020-2021 school year. Some information on the website will likely change between now and when school begins, so please keep that in mind as you look around.
Official updates will be coming soon. Stay tuned, be safe, and enjoy the rest of your summer!
