Media Studies 120 Final Project

Final Project Media Studies 120 - January 2018

For the remainder of this course your class time will be spent working on a final project. Any regular course assignments cannot be completed during class time, but can be worked on before school, at noon or after school. Please schedule times with me for doing extra work, to make sure there are no conflicts and that I'll be here.

Your final project of the year will involve an independent study and presentation. You will need to decide and let me know the first day of the final project which topic you will choose. Make sure you complete the project proposal form and hand it in before you begin the final project. Your final project should not be the same topic as the one you picked for your Module 4 independent study project.

This project takes the place of an exam but should be treated with the same importance as an exam. The project is valued at 40% of your Term 2 mark and must be completed in order to receive credit in this course.

Project Specifications:

The project is due no later than January 19th, 2018. All regular course work should be wrapped up no later than January 12th, 2018. The last day that regular course work can be worked on during class time is January 12th. After that date I will be using class time to assess the final project. All regular course work must be completed in the morning before school, at noon, or after school. Make sure you arrange a time with your class teacher to ensure availability of the computer lab.

Make sure you remain seated in your workstation. I will be circulating around marking projects. I do the bulk of my marking during class time while you are working on your final project and from my computer. You should not be getting help from other students. I will be heavily deducting marks from projects if you are either helping or receiving help from others. You may use your course web site and course related web sites and it should be very quiet. You can use headphones at your workstation as long as they are plugged in to your computer and no other devices.

Do not use transition or animation schemes. I am looking for productive uses of the time provided, not shortcuts! Time on task is an integral component of your final project and will affect your final project marking. Make sure you manage your time well! This is not a race! I am looking for quality work!
