Attached below you will find our Morning Meeting Schedule for the 2025-2026 School Year
Morning Meeting is an important part of my classroom. Morning Meeting is a Responsive Classroom component that I implement into my classroom, as well as many other Responsive Classroom strategies. Morning Meeting is a great way to build classroom community, set a positive tone, increase excitement about learning, and improve academic and social skills. Morning Meeting usually takes between 10-15 minutes each morning. Morning Meeting is composed of four parts: Greeting, Sharing, Activity, and Message.
Greeting: We begin by greeting each other in a friendly and cheerful manner. Students will learn different ways to greet one another.
Sharing: Sharing will take place on Fridays. One student each week shares some interesting information with the class followed by conversations with their classmates. This helps students listen carefully, think about what they hear, formulate good questions, and learn about each other. When students share, they have a chance to feel that their ideas are valued and that the other students care.
Your sharing day should be creative, unique, and special to you! Please do not make your sharing day a "show-and-tell" day. If you choose to share something using technology (video, google slides, etc), please email it to yourself or have it accessible from your account to share on the big screen. A parent could also email it to my email address. Some sharing ideas might include explaining a favorite hobby, teaching the class a skill or game, telling the class about a special event or trip, etc.
Students will have about 5-7 minutes to share followed by 3 questions from their classmates! There will be a Morning Meeting Sharing Schedule added to this Morning Meeting Tab. It will be a live document, so there is a chance it could change, or we might double students up if there's ever a conflict.
Activity: We will have a team activity for the whole class every day. The activity time helps the class feel united as a group, reinforces academic skills, and helps the students learn how to cooperate and solve problems. Many of our activities involve team building, and I have many different ones to share with the class throughout the year! Learning to work together as a team is very important, both in and out of the classroom.
Message: Finally, there is a short message or news about the day ahead.
