At Red Dot, Blue Dot Preschool, we focus on the "whole child," which includes the vital development of both large and small muscle groups. We provide the physical foundation children need for everything from play confidence to classroom success.
Gross Motor Skills: The Big Movements
Gross motor skills involve the large muscle groups in the legs, arms, and back. We enhance these skills through active play and coordinated movement, ensuring children stay healthy and energized.
Activities include: Running, crawling, spinning, dancing, kicking balls, and learning how to navigate space with confidence.
Fine Motor Skills: Precision for Writing
In a world dominated by touch screen technology, opportunities for children to develop fine motor skills have become less common. It is imperative that preschoolers strengthen the muscles in their hands and fingers to prepare them for the physical act of writing.
Our Hands-On Approach: We provide daily opportunities to build precision by:
Threading yarn and using tweezers.
Drawing with pencils and painting with brushes.
Clipping with clothes pins and manipulating marbles.
Using a variety of tactile tools that "touch screens" simply cannot replace.
