Homework: Students are expected to complete homework assignments for each lesson. I assign problems with answers in the textbook, so students or their parents may check their answers at home for timely feedback. I do not grade homework. Homework is a practice tool to help students learn the material and prepare for tests.
Tests: Students take tests in class at the end of each chapter or once per month. Students may use their own handwritten notes during chapter tests. However, students may not simply copy any previous work done at home (i.e. they may not attempt the test at home then bring their work to copy; they must do the work in class during test time). Students may wear earbuds to help with distractions. I grade all tests and give partial credit for work done correctly. If desired, students may resubmit corrected tests for up to half the points missed in order to improve their grade.
Final Exam: Students will take a cumulative final exam at the end of the school year. Students may use their notes during the final exam.
If the parent would like, I can give a final grade at the end of each semester based on test scores and classroom participation. Parents may alternatively choose to give their own final grades based on test scores and homework completion.
