Class size is limited to 10 students. This allows for a nice group dynamic where students can work together, discuss problems, and become comfortable doing math with other people. This also allows me to ensure that I know what each student is grasping or struggling with during each class, so I can better tailor lessons to the particular group of students in class.
Classes are 1.5 hr twice per week. During each class we will review concepts from previous lessons, answer questions from the homework, go over new concepts, and do several problems together as a group. Students take an active role in each class - reading problems out loud, suggesting ways to solve problems, taking turns working out portions of problems in front of class, and correcting the teacher when she makes a mistake. This last one is mandatory! No one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. I encourage and expect the students to let me know when I mess up!
