September: Welcome Back!
For the month of September we will be reviewing about Art room procedures and discussing how color is used in art!
We will also get to make a personalized piece for a school-wide collaborative display! Stay tuned for photos!
2nd grade artists explored how artist Pablo Picasso froze a mood into his paintings. They used clues like the facial expressions, the body language, the colors, and the setting to determine what mood the painting help.
Then students drew their own Picasso style face, creating two opposite moods using the same clues.

2nd grade artists learned how weaving is
ANCIENT - GLOBAL - FUNCTIONAL
They also studied the basic vocab and technique for weaving.
The warp stays still while the weft string goes over-under-over-under the warp, around and around.
Students spent several classes weaving yarn on their paper plate warp, finishing their baskets with a felt bottom
and decorated edge.
