MATH FACTS FLUENCY
Computational fluency is described as the ability to compute with accuracy, flexibility, and efficiency (Adding It Up, 2001).
Fluency is not fixed. It develops and grows over time. Fluency does not mean fast.
Students should have, or be working towards, computational fluency with multiplication (factors) and division (divisors). These skills are used regularly throughout 6th grade math.
HOW CAN I HELP MY STUDENT PRACTICE?
Explore math in your world - fractions in recipes, money, percentages (tips, discounts, etc.).
Incorporate mental math
Make it fun with math games (Set, Spot It, Yahtzee, Cribbage, etc.)
Students have access to Multiplication by Heart and Xtramath websites
