It has been a long and exciting journey that has lead to my return to school. In 2002 I graduated from Fleming College after completing the Financial Planning program. During the span from 1999 up until 2008 I worked with two of the largest financial company's in Canada. It was a pleasure supporting individuals and small businesses achieve their financial goals through a holistic approach to financial literacy. Working with Investments both large and small was interest, albeit forever changing. Managing debt portfolios brought on many challenges and inspired a deeper analysis to create a positive solution.
After being recruited from another corporation looking to fill a void, I was on to my next adventure. I became the Sales and Marketing Manager at a very esteemed manufactured homes sales outlet. It was a joy managing the Sales and Marketing team to triumph through the company goals and initiatives.
I am married to the love of my life. Celina brings joy to my heart every day. We have two boys that fill the atmosphere with never ending energy and laughter. They provide support and encouragement as I embark down yet another new adventure. I am a sports enthusiast. Sports of all types have had a significant influence on my childhood and has continued through my adult years. I was fortunate enough to play for the Ontario soccer team for two years. We competed on an international level. The training was intense although I was always the first to pick up the stick for street hockey or basketball at a friends house. In elementary school I was involved in every sport they offered. I placed 7th in Ontario when I competed in the cross-country event. I plan to use this admiration of sports to connect with students when applicable.
The decision to return to school is purely out of my passion and desire to help the youth of today flourish. Today's challenges bring new struggles to students this world has never seen. I want to lead the charge in supporting today's youth through encouragement and positive reinforcement. I am eagerly seeking the opportunity to enhance and support the learning environment where I can have the greatest impact on the lives of others.
My values and beliefs are to encourage life long learners and promote a positive growth mindset within the students. I value each student individually. All students deserve respect and equal opportunities. It is important to me to maintain each students dignity and confidentiality. I believe all students need to be included and participate in the sharing of knowledge.
My Sheridan College Experience
Sheridan College has had a great impact on my development and altered my perception of education in a positive way. It has given me the chance to understand and braoden my acknowledgment of what it means to be an educator. Being a part of this class has been a fun yet challenging time. All the knowledge offered through this course correlates well to reality withing the school setting. Each professor has put us in a position where we have to push ourselves and expand on our understanding of the expectations required for the position. I am glad I took this course and I feel it has prepared me in a way that puts me in the best possible position to start my new career. I will miss this course along with the professors and my classmates although I am excited to advance into the next chapter.
This next phase in my development gives me the hands on capabilities to interact with selected students. Now I have been offered the hands-on experience to help these students with their lifelong learning journey. I am prepared and excited for this adventure to begin.
Throughout my placement I learned how to properly and efficiently interact with the students and staff. It was great practice. I was placed in a class with 6+ students at the high school age. It was a joy watching them grow. My mission was to add to the pleasure of learning. Learning is meant to be fun. Although it is my duty to help students progress and expand on their knowledge base, I feel they were the ones that taight me so much. There were many challenging moments that come up during my time at placement however, these were the times that really gave me the experience I needed. Having this guided introduction was necessary for my Development and I am glad it is a requirement .
