Russel Cornes

Qualifications:

I completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Auckland University majoring in both Marketing and Commercial Law. After completing this degree I worked in industry in a Management role for 2 years before heading off on my OE for the next 3.5yrs. Upon my return I went on to complete a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Teaching at AUT.

Experience: I have been at MRGS for 17 years, and have taught Economics, Accounting, Business studies, Computers and Legal studies. I am the Head of Economics, the Director of Pathways and the Year 13 Graduate Dean.

Why I teach my subject: Everything is Economics. I love telling my students that and proving it to them. I really enjoy the real life applications we can make in my subject to the theory and the discussions we have as a class around it.

Why I teach at MRGS: it’s close to home in Mangere Bridge, the students are great…. many have gone on to become good friends of mine and the staff are fantastic!
