Learn: Arranging Your Music
Goal: Create, Save, Export, and Share a musical composition arranged into a song.
1. Watch this video to begin.
2. Record at least 4 different instruments or drum racks using MIDI. Try playing it in and recording or use the draw tool to click in notes.
3. Arrange your musical creations from Session View in Arrangement View.
4. Export MP3 file and upload to Google Drive Shared Folder.
5. Complete Lesson 3 of this document. (Workbook)

Steps For Lesson 3
- Login to Desktop.
- Plug in Headphones in Aux port in front of PC.
- Click the Ableton Live Icon on the Desktop to Open.
- Watch Mr. Fox's Arrangement Lecture while following along in Live. You are welcome to pause the video to try out different skills!
- Carefully listen to one or more of your favorite songs. Count how many times a new sound is introduce or removed. This is called variation, important to keep listeners interested.
*Important Items
- Know difference between MIDI and Audio tracks
- Make sure the track you want to record is "Armed"
- Choose different sounds from the browser on the left to record
- Use "Info View" helpers if confused (Cheat Code)
- Make sure Computer MIDI Keyboard is highlighted (Top Right)
- Record at least 3 different tracks for your arrangement (Ctrl+Shift+T to create MIDI Track)
- Remember, YOU CAN'T BREAK THE SOFTWARE (Ctrl+Z is your friend)
5. Open Lesson 3 Document (Workbook) to begin exploring and answering guided assessment questions.
6. Export Arranged Composition at the end of the today and Upload to Shared Folder. Share with jordan.fox@hvs.org.
