ISTE-T Standards
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:
promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources.
promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.
Evidence 1:
IBL Assignment: In this assignment we were asked to create an IBL lesson that we could present to students. This lesson is meant to encourage students to explore the question(s) they had to answer to create a presentation. This would promote students to collaborate together through the use of digital tools, learning from other students, and share their knowledge in a face-to-face enjoinment. I chose this because the assignment would help students meet all the standards to inspire student learning and creativity.
2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S. Teachers:
design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.
develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.
provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.
Evidence 1:
Screencast Assignment: In this assignment we had to do a screencast lesson for our students. This lesson incorporated digital tools to help promote learning and creativity to the students. My lesson would allow students to navigate further into the topic if they wanted by promoting where the source material came from within the lesson. The screencast allowed students to understand the map we were looking at but also gave them the opportunity to explore further with the questions at the end of the assignment. I picked this example because the assignment would give students the ability to move at their own pace, show progress of their learning, and help them learn with the ability to use digital resources.
3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:
demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations.
collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation.
communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats.
model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning.
Evidence 1:
Practical Use of Technology (Kami) - I picked this example because it clearly demonstrates the different types of technologies that students, teachers, and parents can use in today's world. We explored several different types of AI that would help in several areas such as creating new ideas, finding new ways to help analyze student progress, providing feedback to parents, and understanding what tools can help with different types of students.
4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices. Teachers:
advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources.
address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources.
promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information.
develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and collaboration tools.
Evidence 1:
Creating an AI Use Policy for Your Future Classroom Assignment: I picked this assignment because it provides a model for ethical standards we would use with digital information and AI in the classroom. It addressed the tools and resources I would provide students but also the expectations that come with them. It promotes the responsibilities student, parents, and the teacher each have in their role while using AI inside and out of the classroom. It provided ideas of how I, as a teacher, could help students in their education.
Evidence 2:
Powtoon Assignment: This was a great assignment that showed how technology can transfer knowledge to students. I was able to make a presentation using a digital tool that taught important concepts that could help students and parents understand the importance of Digital Citizenship. Offering new information would help student and parents understand their resposiblities in the digital world.
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. Teachers:
participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning.
exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others.
evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.
contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community.
Evidence 1:
Theories in Educational Technolgy Assignment: I picked this assignment as an example because it reflects on my own teaching and helps me continue to grow in my professional learning. This assignment showed that I need to understand how students can learn in a digital environment as well as how to integrate these tools correctly. It also provides me the ability to show students, parents, and other teachers how I prepare to teach and make sure the students absorbing the information provide. Learning about these theories in education will help me prepare to promote and advocate new ways technology can be brought into the classroom. The more I learn about these theories and put them in practice, the more I will be able to help people understand the effectiveness they have in the classroom.
