Mr. Kemp’s Classroom Management Policy
Updated Fall 2025
Philosophy
A safe, respectful, and engaging classroom is essential for student success. My goal is to create an environment where every student can learn, participate, and thrive. This policy outlines clear expectations, consistent procedures, and fair consequences to support that goal.
Procedures for Minor Offenses
Minor offenses are behaviors that interrupt learning or go against classroom expectations but can be corrected with coaching.
Examples of Minor Offenses:
Classroom disruption
Inappropriate use of equipment or materials
Being in an incorrect or unauthorized location
Progressive Response:
First Occurrence – Calm verbal redirection toward appropriate behavior.
Second Occurrence – Clear warning with explanation of potential outcomes. Parent/guardian may be contacted if behavior is chronic.
Third Occurrence – Referral to the office for further discipline. Parent/guardian will be contacted.
Procedures for Major Offenses
Major offenses are serious behaviors that undermine safety, respect, or school values.
Examples of Major Offenses:
Disrespect to school staff
Use of profanity or inappropriate language
Physical aggression or violence
Response:
Zero Tolerance – Students who commit a major offense will be immediately referred to the office for administrative action. Parent/guardian contact will follow.
