PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Expectations/Rules/Procedures
PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXPECTATIONS:
1. BE ON TIME
· You must be in the locker room when the tardy bell rings, and offical attendance will be taken five minutes after that bell rings.
2. BE ON TASK
· Participate and try your best in all activities
· Follow directions
· Focus attention on classroom activities
UNITS: Most units are 10 days/2 weeks in length. You will be graded on participation everyday in each unit; unless medically excused by a doctor. If medically excused you don’t have to dress for class. In all other cases, including medical notes from home or health office, you will be expected to dress for class and participate as able for the day.
3. APPROPRIATE MATERIALS FOR CLASS
· Change from the clothes you wore to school into: shorts or sweats, T-shirt and tennis shoes. Remember being dressed for gym means you changed into gym clothes and have tennis shoes. In chilly weather; wear sweat pants and a sweatshirt as nessecary.
*If you forget your gym clothes, you will still partcipate in class, but your grade will be affected, and you will also need to fill out a “Not Dressed for PE” sheet.
4. BE COOPERATIVE
· Be responsible for your own behavior and accept consequences for misbehavior
· Follow directions the first time given
· Be supportive and encourage each other
· Be patient with yourself and others
· Play fair, wait your turn and share
5. BE VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY CONSIDERATE:
· Show good sportsmanship
· Be quiet, considerate, and walk while entering and leaving the gym and hallways
· Use appropriate touch when with classmates
· Respect the property of others, especially in the locker room
*Heart Rate monitors will be used in class; If you don’t already own a strap, you will need to buy one. These will be used as a grading tool in 9th grade PE
1. Enter and exit the gym through the loocker room entrances.
2. A locker and lock will be assigned to you at the beginning of class and there
will be no changes, NO EXCEPTIONS!
3. DON’T leave valuables in the locker room.
4. Always lock your locker before you leave the locker room and never tell anyone your combination.
5. Be sure to use the bathroom before coming into the gym.
6. Sit QUIETLY in your designated spot for attendance.
7. There will be NO gum or candy allowed in this class.
8. No one will leave the gym area or locker room without permission.
9. Report all injuries to the teacher.
10. The only thing that should be kept in your locker are gym clothes, i.e.-- NO
glass perfume bottles.
GRADING
You are graded on a daily basis. Each day is worth 5 points, whether you receive these points is up to you. Your daily grade will be based upon all of the 5 expectations combined with any skills tests, written quizzes, and Heart Rate monitor information we gather.
If you are absent, you will receive no credit until the make-up work is completed. Also, if you do not dress for any particular day, your grade is a 0 (Zero) for that day but you will still be expected to particpate in class.
Upon the 4th day of not being dressed, your grade will drop one grade level for each occurrence, i.e.-- from an A to a B, from a B to a C, etc. After seven such occurrences, you will fail the quarter/semester.
*Also, if you are unable to follow directions your grade will be affected.

A+ = 98
A = 93
A- = 90
B+ = 87
B = 83
B- = 80
C+ = 77
C = 73
C- = 70
D+ = 67
D = 63
D- = 60
