Education is essential and a must-have for all children in this world. Education is not only the knowledge and intelligence learned throughout numerous years, but also life-lessons and character that are learned and formed throughout each child’s journey. Specifically, my role as an educator goes beyond teaching the necessary lessons and standards imposed by the state. I will establish a classroom environment that allows the students to succeed in all areas of life. In addition, I will be approachable so that students feel safe and are able to communicate any issue or challenge that they are facing. Although it is unrealistic to expect all students to be motivated and want to learn all the time, I will ask all students to give 100% at all times and encourage them to always ask questions.
In today’s education system, and in today’s world, I realize students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and from very diverse cultures, but this will not affect how I conduct my classroom. Each student will be treated the same and share common goals in the classroom. Each student in the classroom will be represented fairly and all students will have the same opportunities.
I recognize that all children learn differently, but my strategies for teaching include being straight forward and consistent. However, being flexible and willing to adapt at a moments notice is crucial for success. It is essential that students are comfortable in the classroom and are able to know, at any time, the routine and what comes next. Students need to be in a structured environment, which is why organization and planning is essential in my classroom. I want students to feel it is their classroom too and that they have an impact and role in how the class operates. In addition to my teaching methods and strategies, I will involve parents and guardians heavily and always maintain an open line of communication with them. I will make it a priority to attend extracurriculars and out of school events in order to establish strong relationships with the students and the community.
