In your backyard you may see many birds that you don't know. Every now and again you may see that you do know. If you want to find out more interesting because if you just go outside and look then you most likely will only see the boring ones. But you can see interesting ones if your patient.
To do this sit in you front or backyard on your favourite outdoor chair or on the picnic blanket or just on the ground. at first you may only see a couple of birds. Once 10 minutes has gone by then you might see some interesting birds. some with long beaks others with short beaks. Colourful ones and ones with one or two colours. Now you may need a guide to birds in your garden.
Common ones may be and Indian Miner a small brown bird with a white belly and a yellow beak or a wattle bird with red on their cheeks and a yellow underbelly, with a long curved black beak. If you are lucky you might see a pied currawong which are magnificent Black birds with white under their wings. if you do this for long enough like 15 minutes than you will see some other birds that have so many colours that i can't describe to you because of the different patterns and colours. If you want to become an expert on local birds, go out and watch birds daily. There is an app that you can down load that is called bird count. which allows you to keep track of how many different birds you can see. Did you know there are fairies in your garden? They are in everyone's back yards living in all the little nooks and crannies. But they are always grateful when you help them out. So let's make a fairy garden, you can make it out of any thing leaves and sticks or flower petals. It doesn't have to be perfect don't worry the fairies aren't picky. Just do your best and they will love it.
Interested in making some beautiful butterfly friends, well have a go at making a super easy butterfly feeder. Just grab a recycled plastic lid or plate and tie it up with some string. Then you can get creative, put some beads on and customise it in your own way. To attract the wonderful fluttering butterflys waiting for something nice to eat, put some small pieces of fruit that have a nice sweet sent. do that and your day will be full of butterfly wonders.
Bored? Want to escape from your annoying sibling? Build a cubby! Always more fun in the backyard, but if you don't have space then inside is fine. Make it out of anything that is available. The one in the picture is made out of sheets, blankets and pillows, but you can make it out of anything. Ask your parents if you can use some sheets, because the sheets can get a bit dirty. You can make it with sticks and leaves, absolutely anything that is available to you. Once you have built your cubby, use it to have wars with your sibling, just go to read a book, draw a plant, go bird watching, or just enjoy nature.
