According to the State of South Dakota WildlandFire Department of Agriculture representatives, MP2 has a dangerous level of fuel load which puts us at high risk should a fire event occur in or near our community. Fuel mitigation, proper spacing of tree crowns and the removal of low ignition materials and vegetation around your home, is one step all MP2 residents should take to increase the surviveablility of their home and for personal safety.
The information provided below is to assist homeowners in preparing their homes and family to survive a fire event. Being prepared to evacuate your home quickly can help minimize material and life losses.
For fuel mitagation information, please see the Firewise page of this site and visit SD Wildland Fire.
