The Mountain Plains 2 Homeowners Association maintains its own, independent water supply system and has made numerous enhancements to the storage and distribution system over the years. New pumps, new storage tanks, a new control system and middle level pressure zone have been installed. Three deep wells, of which two are normally in use and one in reserve, give access to the Madison Aquifer, from which water is pumped into an above-ground storage tank on Elk Run Road at the topographical high point of the development and into mid-level tanks buried at somewhat lower elevations alongside Flat Top Circle. Also, all houses in the development are now metered, enabling the Homeowners Association to measure individual water consumption by lot. A licensed Water System Operator is contracted by the Association to ensure all testing for purity is conducted and reported as required by state law. Water quality tests are conducted monthly from sample water from both wells currently in use.
