Year end student musings....
I hope that this “year end show”, despite the challenges that we are facing, will be able to share a message and feeling just as it would in a normal year. This has provided an opportunity to find creative ways for expression, and I imagine that we will each be able to participate in unique ways to one overall result. For example, sending in individual videos, but finding ways to connect each one through movement into a cohesive whole, as well as dancing all together. I want to be able to share our collective passion for dance in a way that showcases our sense of community both in the dance community and the greater Collingwood community. I am driven to share our dancing with others right now because I know that many people are feeling isolated, and that we have an opportunity to bring some light into people’s lives. Finding ways to make connections with others through the screen is very important right now, and I hope that we will be able to accomplish that even without lighting, costumes, and a stage, and maybe discover a deeper connection to dance because of this.
