Morven Arts

WELCOME!

The 2020-2021 School year has begun, and the Performing Arts are alive and well! Check out our individual links to see what has been going on in class and/or what performing opportunities we have been exploring since our 'lockdown' in March of 2020. Almost Winter Holidays, and we are still going on strong! Enjoy, and stay safe!

Please enjoy our 2020 End of the Year Virtual Performances! These works were all a result of home work(play) accomplished during our lockdown in March. Join us for one of our "new normals": the sharing of these artistic endeavours online. The musicians, vocalists and dancers are taking you from the theatre spaces to your personal devices. New format, but still inspiring artistry. Put on some good headphones, stream to your tv or turn up the stereo and enjoy these videos and audio recordings from our incredible and creative students! These Morven artists have worked on every one of these pieces in the safety of their own homes, isolated way beyond the norm. Some were literally in their cars in order to get enough quiet - talk about a good way to ‘warm’ mom and dad up to “borrowing the car” by asking to get some privacy for your performing arts class! Yet through the distant space we were able to see so much connection and learning take place. We think you will agree with us that there is much strength in these young artists. With many levels of technology, lots of inventiveness and hard work we think that you will be wowed with their developing talents. From each and every one of the Collingwood artists we wish you all the best and hope that all of you out there enjoy the show!

We believe the Arts are a meaningful part of student education, promoting creativity and self-expression while teaching patience and teamwork. Exposure to the arts expands the ability to look at issues from multiple perspectives and to invent solutions in unique ways. Arts challenge the mind, improving concentration and increasing confidence.
At Collingwood, we have a wide array of curricular and co-curricular offerings across both Performing and Visual Arts. The Performing Arts Program provides a lively and stimulating classroom environment in the disciplines of drama, dance, choir, and band. Our facilities boast state-of-the-art performing spaces, including the only black box theatre on the North Shore and dance studios with floating floors.
