To deepen our storytelling, the Gensler team suggested that we use one Gensler project instead of multiple and to choose content that is more reflective of our project concept.
Building up to the Third Review was where we decided on The Moody Center for how its design facilitates connection between structures and people, as well as its relevance to Gensler, UT Austin, and our team’s interests. Gensler then sent us hi-res photos of the Moody Center to choose from, which improved the quality of our visuals.
Morphology at the Third Review are shown here using a subset of the photos from Gensler. We experimented with the origin placement and tested the piece when the origin is placed at the edge, corner, and center, and ultimately decided to keep the origin centered for a steady, radiating effect. The UT burnt orange color is also largely present to emphasize the meaningful connection between UT and Gensler through The Moody Center.
We received glowing feedback, as our piece achieved a refined color palette and visuals, a strong narrative, and interesting movement and forms. We were also able to deliver a concise and compelling presentation.
Feedback and changes from this to our final piece in the Final Review were mainly small tweaks. We made the tonal colors more vibrant, moved the origin to better suit the Media Wall specs, and increased the size of the fractals to strengthen the moments of placemaking.
