Ellie's note: It has been my joy and honor to see my work published in several places. Below, you can find some of my published works reproduced in their entirety and hyperlinked when possible.
I go down to the water
I go down to the sea
Pray the waves to sweep me under
Take me down to dream
Where fishes walk and dolphins swim
There will I find peace
Far separated from any kin
And at long last at ease
The ocean will keep my body
I pray it keeps my soul
Here below, a ghostly copy
Where no one seeks to go
With fire below and ice above
I journey in darkness hence
Till I see something not known of
And find some comfort thence
The waves above may call me home
But I will never go
Their low and constant, pining drone
Has no seeds left to sow
From enormous creatures all around
I hear an aching cry
The water seems to be sinking down
Leaving us all to dry
I cannot walk, I cannot touch
The land I knew so well
Though the call of a little dove
Reminds me of a bell
And they did ring that fateful day
When we were lost in song
But as I sunk beneath the bay
I think we had it wrong
Bells above and depths beneath
Will always seem to say
"Come to me and find your sleep,
I'll wake you at the day"
But when it comes, that breaking dawn
Stitched with colors bright
The iron waves in which I drown
Don't let me see the sight
So go on home, away from me
Lest waves carry you too away
Find a place for you to sleep
And wake at the day
Don't think of me but once a year
When the howling winds they cry
I grant you shed a single tear
But hear my quiet reply
