Saint Luigi
Joe Sandy's 2025 single, "Saint Luigi" is a call for action against the tyranny of the United States and the oligarchy that runs it.
Lyrics:
Our country's now oligarchic
It's time for something cathartic
I'm praying to Saint Luigi
Rip them right out of our reality
Deny
Depose
Delay is the message that we want to send
To
All the rich
Yeah!
Take a listen to the first collaboration between Ellie Bennet and Joe Sandy, The Blood Cycle! Premiered on November 7th, 2023 at Illinois State University, this polystylistic song cycle weaves ideas of loss and isolation through the piano, clarinet, and baritone vocals.
Here you can find Joe Sandy performing with The Sweet Nothings on WMBD TV in Central Illinois. (Aired September 27th, 2024)
Home, 2am, 2022
This is a performance by Mack Booth (cello) and Joe Sandy (piano) playing Sandy's 2022 Wisconsin Alliance for Composers Honorable Mention piano and cello duet, Home, 2am at his senior recital on October 16th, 2022. "I am eternally grateful to Mack for putting up with me and my sometimes questionable cello writing," says Sandy.
Lamento (Like Melting Wax), 2024
"I wrote this piece at the request of the Vendredi Winds, and I challenged myself to experiment with extended techniques for each instrument. This project changed and evolved as I learned and experimented more and more and ended up in the form you’ll hear today. This is not a beautiful piece, nor was it ever intended to be. Let the dissonance take you somewhere you might not have been before. Side note: I have melted the end of the score and the performers have not seen it before tonight."- Joe Sandy
The Hymnal of Bobo Underhill
The three members of MTA (along with three additional friends) played a long-running Pathfinder campaign entitled "The Newmorrow Chronicles."
During this campaign, the character Bobo Underhill, an insane halfling oracle, declared himself God of the Moon and cast Overwhelming Presence over the entire party of heroes. Unfortunately, the only person to be affected was Grop, the Orc Fighter.
Ted Molkentin, Grop's player, decided to have fun with this moment and rewrote the lyrics to a few popular hymns to praise Bobo.
I took it upon myself to see that they would be recorded, and thus "The Hymnal of Bobo Underhill" was born.
Send Us Thine Asteroid, O Lord
I saw this meme in June 2022 and knew that I had to record myself singing it.
I decided to transpose it to E♭ major so I could sing a true SATB for the final verse, but the majority is in TTBB.
