As with all outdoor pursuits there can be a higher risk of incidents compared with softer activities. These risks can at times be managed to ensure safer working but due to the dynamic environments we paddle in not all risks can be eliminated.
Before going out on a paddleboarding trip it is your responsibility to ensure that club coaches/leaders/activity organisers are made fully aware of any existing or potential medical problems that might have an impact on your safety and those of your companions who may have to come to your aid.
For instance, if you suffer from or have in the past suffered from chronic back pain, disability, asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, hearing problems, fear of water or heights etc. then we need to know.
On any occasion any paddler wishing to join any session has any doubt, they should speak with the organiser prior to the session so that they can reach a clear understanding of what they and the leader/ coach/ organiser expect of each other in terms of skill levels and experience prior to and during the trip.
If at any time you begin to feel uncomfortable or the session is above your capabilities, you should inform the organiser and cease the activity at the earliest opportunity.
