‘If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.’–Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Estrada
I am in my 11th year of teaching. I have taught math in both junior high and high school. I have split my time as a district Special Education Department behavior specialist and campus Google and Blended Learning specialist. I have also taken on the hat of Khan Academy Ambassador. I want to reach out to my fellow educators and show them that technology and blended learning aren't as scary and daunting as they seem.
Over the last 10 years, I have pushed for blended learning models in my classes and those of my colleagues. I believe by allowing our students to leverage technology in the classroom, through blended learning assignments, that they have a greater chance of achievement and autonomy. Ignacio Estrada said it best when he said we should teach children in the way they learn. My aim is to bring digital learning to the forefront of the small districts around me to help better prepare our children for the future.
I truly see myself as a lifelong learner who pursues many avenues in my education. I want to share my learning with as many as I can, whether that is other educators, professionals, parents, community members, or students. My hope is that I can share my findings and projects with the education community.
