Wind Ensemble

Wind Ensemble is the most advanced Band at Monroe High School and admission is based on an audition held in the spring (for the following school year). Wind Ensemble members who complete a year of private lessons on their major instrument will be automatically considered for admission into next year's Wind Ensemble. Percussionists may substitute a completed season of WGI or similar activity. All performances are required including the District Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Band Festival, and occasionally the MSBOA State Band Festival. All Wind Ensemble students are expected to consider private instrument lessons and are strongly encouraged to participate in the MSBOA District and State Solo & Ensemble Festivals. Any Wind Ensemble member who earns a First Division rating on a Proficiency solo at MSBOA State Solo & Ensemble Festival will be automatically considered for admission into next year's Wind Ensemble.
