Jazz Band

This is a course open to traditional jazz, big band instrumentation: alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drum set, piano, guitar, and bass. Exceptions to this instrumentation may be made at the discretion of the director of bands. Rhythm section positions (drum set, piano, guitar, and bass) will be made available to the general student body as needed, however, priority preference will be given to those students currently enrolled in a concert band.

The MHS Jazz Band gives many performances throughout the school year that involve travel. The Jazz Band often performs at venues and festivals in Downtown Monroe, Ida, Sylvania, Mount Pleasant, and others each year. Students wishing to participate in Jazz Band should be prepared for many performances outside of the school day!
