On Monday, January 13, Sandscript, Monomoy Regional High School’s literary and creative writing magazine, hosted its much-anticipated Open Mic during Jawsome A+B in Mrs. Doyle's room (A237). The event brought together students, staff, and alumni to celebrate creativity in all its forms. From poetry to music, the room was alive with artistic expression and a strong sense of community.
Performers took to the "stage" with courage and passion, sharing a variety of works that ranged from heartfelt poems to soulful musical performances. Each act showcased the unique talents of the Monomoy community, drawing applause and admiration from the supportive audience. The casual, welcoming atmosphere allowed even first-time performers to feel at ease, creating an event that was as inclusive as it was inspiring.
The event was not just a platform for performance but a celebration of creativity as a whole. Sandscript’s mission of encouraging self-expression was on full display as students embraced the opportunity to share their voices. Whether reciting original poetry or covering favorite songs, the performers reminded everyone of the power of art to bring people together and tell meaningful stories.
Sandscript’s Winter Open Mic proved once again to be a highlight of the school year, sparking connections and encouraging creative risks. Events like these are a reminder of the vibrant talent within the MRHS community and the importance of providing spaces for that talent to thrive. For those who missed this one, keep an eye out for the next Sandscript event—it’s sure to inspire!
