IntroductionOn October 31st, Sandscript visited both Harwich and Chatham Elementary, a cherished tradition for well over twenty years. Led by advisor Lisa Forte-Doyle, members read self-written and illustrated autumn tales to read to K-2 students. As a club, they were invited to the wonderful classrooms of teachers Elise Johnson-Dreyer, Barbara Laub, Emily Tuccio, Oona Melanson, Caitlin Imparato, and Julia Blois. Thanks to them, this storied custom got to continue, offering a fun event on the spookiest day of the year to inspire a love for reading, writing, and drawing!
The TripWhether they were narratives of lonely pumpkins, or fables of ghostly friends, or chronicles of fall-themed festivities, the Sandscript crew wrote with a passion that brought the season to life on every page. Broken into smaller groups in every room visited, the district's youngest members got swept into the worlds created by our teen authors, encapsulated and enjoying every moment, those very reactions acting as the perfect reasoning for why such a beautiful tradition should continue evermore.
