In just under a month, MRHS will hold its fall theatrical performance, and this year, they are putting on Puffs!
Also known as Puffs, Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years At A Certain School Of Magic & Magic, the comedic play by Matt Cox parodies the Harry Potter series by the disgraced author J.K. Rowling, but with a twist: it follows the lives of the less-celebrated students from the house of “Puffs” (a clear nod to Hufflepuff) at the same magical school. Rather than focusing on “The Boy Who Lived,” the show centers on Wayne Hopkins, an average boy from New Mexico, and his friends, who navigate the seven increasingly chaotic years of magical schooling in the shadow of Harry's adventures.
Puffs humorously examines friendship, courage, and heroism, proving that even those who aren't destined for greatness still have an important story to tell. And with its fast-paced humor, nostalgic references, and clever subversion of Potter tropes, the three nights the MRHS Theatre Company crew is hosting are destined to be ones for the ages.
Catch them on November 14th, 15th, and 16th, all at 7 pm sharp in the MRHS auditorium. Go out, support the arts, support these kids, and get excited to watch them crush it!
