At Monomoy Regional High School, the holiday season brings more than festive decorations and cozy vibes. For students in Creative Writing and Sandscript, it’s the time of year when imagination and craftsmanship come together in the sweetest way possible—through the annual Holiday House project.
This beloved tradition challenges students to create intricate candy houses that serve as both art pieces and story inspirations. These creations, adorned with gumdrop rooftops, peppermint pathways, frosting-snow accents, and anything else they could scrounge up, become the settings for unique tales to be spun by the students, which are posted right next to the homes in glass cases near the library.
This project embodies the spirit of the season: community, creativity, and a sprinkle of sweetness. Students, staff, and visitors alike are invited to explore these imaginative works and celebrate the artistry of MRHS’s aspiring storytellers.
